Oh golly, are we going to have fun the weekend of the 28th, 29th and 30th! To celebrate The Firm’s birthday, all of the instructors will be wearing their 80s workout gear for their classes.

"   And please oh please, don't make us be the only ones in costume! "

If you give two hoots about your Limited Edition Duran Duran Japanese import of the Rio Remixes on vinyl, if you care one whit about those surly hotties in the Brat Pack, if you are proud to have a Cabbage Patch Kid or and E.T. lunch box, you will join in the fun.

If you started working out in the 80s and haven’t let up since, you probably should be proud to show us your thong-bared buns (but please wear tights underneath). If you are young enough to not even remember when people wore thongs to work out you probably have very little to be self-conscious about. Of course you may fall into a less-toned or more self-conscious category, and for you folks there are still plenty of options, though not as funny. We’ll take what we can get.

So, this weekend the 28th, 29th and 30th, we want to see you in thong leotards (with tights!) or satin shorts (yes, with tights), legwarmers, Reeboks, terry-cloth headbands, neon shoelaces, possibly a cropped hoodie or a satin jacket and a Swatch watch. And I want to see everyone singing along to every 80s hit we spin.

Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?

New FIRM FIT starting October 20

There are plenty of you out there who take the summer off from working out at THE FIRM because you’ll be biking, canoeing, running, etc…

If, by “biking, canoeing and running, etc” you mean actually breaking a sweat and getting your heart rate up—great. You’re probably feeling very toned and fit and ready to succumb once again to some heavy-duty high kicks and grapevines. If you’re like me, and by “biking, hiking, canoeing and running, etc” you mean you’ve spent the summer in a lawn chair with a brat in one hand and a Coors Light in the other. It’s time to get back on track.

There is no better way than an intensive, eight week physical and mental education to do just that. Firm FIT will help you boost your cardio, tone up those muscles (which burn fat even when they are sitting on the couch watching Grey’s Anatomy), and teach you to make menu choices that help you stay full and healthy all the time. The next session begins on October 20th, which gives you enough time to squeeze in a couple more “hikes” beforehand. And by that I mean margaritas.

New Fall Schedule

Monday 9:30am Yoga is now Core with Angie Johnson.

Monday 9:30am Low Impact is now at 9:00am.

Thursdays 5:15pm Muscle Conditioning with John Sellwood starting Oct 11th.

Fridays 6:15pm Spinning with Aric Hareland starting Friday October 12th.

Sundays 3:00pm Spin with Kelly Miyamoto will kick off Sunday Oct.14th with a legendary 2-hour Spin with Kelly Miyamoto and Kristin Braniff. (The 2-hour spin class is the second Sunday of the month at 3:00pm)

Laura, Laura, super Hard-Core-ah!

I like the idea of choosing to surround myself with people I admire. I go to my particular stylist because he has amazing hair. I shop with my designer-friend Courtney because she has great taste. I go to the used car lot with my brother because he’s a total gearhead. I see films with my writer-friend Mark because I am guaranteed a lively discussion afterward…

And from now on I’ll be shopping at the Laura Cascaddan store for my bitchin new bod. Laura moved here from Orlando, FL, came to The Firm just out of curiosity, and it was love at first sight! She wanted to work here, and we basically wanted her to move right in too, so we quickly added her to The Firm’s roster of personal trainers.

Laura began cheerleading at age 5, and hasn’t let up since. She has a ripped, rockstar physique, does all kinds of racing and triathlons and other super-human things, has earned multiple certifications (AFAA, ACE, kickboxing, jumprope, plyometrics, pilates… I could go on forever), has two kids, and has an incredible fitness philosophy: “What you think is impossible, isn’t. You just need the right coach!”
